Friday's Find: Uptown Collection by Nurseryworks now at GIGGLE!

Friday's Find is The Uptown Collection by Nurseryworks graced my Facebook news feed yesterday when Giggle announced they were now carrying the collection. Nurseryworks has a variety of uniquely modern designed cribs. This collection is a bold, classical design that is chic and different to others on the market. The collection features sleek decorative moldings, brass hardware and end panels that create a stylish look which is inspired by 15th century Britain that can adapt to any room. These pieces come in two color combinations of cream/black lacquer to create an over sophisticated look. Included are Giggle's photos because they capture the true "feel" of the crib.

Celebrity Nursery: Dancing with the Stars J.R. Martinez

J.R. Martinez and Diana Gonzalez-Jones welcomed their first child, Lauryn Anabelle, nicknamed Belle to a inspirational nursery that was designed by Little Crown Interiors. This nursery shows a lot of well thought out design elements that make a very cohesive design. If you are not familiar with J.R. Martinez he is an Iraq veteran who then was on the soap "All My Children" as J.R., and now we have last seen him on "Dancing with The Stars". Check out the different design elements below that make up this elegant nursery.

The design inspiration was "something subtle and breezy". The wall color is a soft ivory with a white-washed Cape Ann Hardwood in Rockport flooring by Shaw. They added a very elegant wallpaper by Tempaper in a luminous champagne called “Edie” Wallpaper. To top it all off they selected the Posh Area Rug in pearl by Shaw to soften the room.

The “Kudos” Crib and  “Mix” Single Dresser & Changing Station from Young America by Stanley Furniture Company was selected to achieve the couples wishes to have furniture done in rich tones with a modern edge. To add another dimension and a bit of texture they selected a custom upholstered Glider from Oilo Studio, Cohen Glider and Pouf in a velvety deep burgundy hue.

The crib bedding is light and airy. Freesia Crib Set and Changing Pad Cover by Oilo Studio.

The room is designed around the wall mural that graces the wall over the crib. It is hand painted by an artist in Southern California, Chelsea McGraw. This "mural depicts angelic images of J.R.’s sister and Diana’s sister—both of whom were taken from this world far too soon—sweetly cradling the name Belle." The gorgeous mural seamlessly integrates with the laser-cut wood wall name from Little Crown Interiors and is painted a shade of metallic gold.

I love this light and how it brings a great design element into the room keeping with the theme. The gold accents throughout the space really help pop the dark, rich furniture. If you love this Geranium Globe Pendant light as much as I do, you can find it at PoshTots.

Notice the presence of lambs? The baby's initials are "L.A.M.". The lamb prints are from LA-based photographer Sharon Monstrose of the Animal Print Shop.

The modern and sleek storage blocks from PoshTots provide the perfect place to store a grand book collection and toys.

There are so many things that I truly love about this room. One of my favorites is the wall lamp sconce in white.

Look Ubbi Diaper Pail in Sand! Comes in a variety of colors. So far I love mine.

18 Months and Counting

I can't believe my baby is already 18 months old. It feels like just yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital and just stared at him. I remember I would walk around the house and put him down in his crib or bassinet and just stare at this perfect sleeping baby. I couldn't get enough of him all bundled up in a swaddle. He is growing up so fast. Now, he is a screaming, running machine. I am extremely excited for the next few months when he really starts talking. . I may regret saying that. Happy 18 Months JJ!!

I just love how they are usually filled with comfy blankets and pillows. They looking so inviting. . maybe I should make one for my room! How inspiring are all of these I have found so far. Now, just to actually commit to making one.

Friday's Find - Ottoman Pouf Floor Pillow

{Source}

This weeks Friday's Find is a fun one! Do you ever just get lost when looking at the amazing talent people have on Etsy. You can find just about anything handmade; from crocheted hats, blankets, booties to handmade picture frames, wall art. You name it, you can find it on Etsy. I have many saved favorites that I hope to purchase one day. I think I can add this to the list. Look at these Ottoman Pouf Floor Pillows from Aletafae on Etsy. What a fun way to show some style in the nursery. These Ottoman Poufs are the perfect way to add some color, mix patterns, or add a little texture to your baby's nursery.

These floor poufs have multiple uses and are not just for the nursery. You can add some style to any room and can function as an ottoman, child's chair, headrest, floor pillow, or just add color and style to any room. I think my favorite thing about the poufs is that you are able to add a trendy fabric or color without adding it to the whole room. By just adding one of these with some other pops of the same color in the room will tie it all together.

LULU DK Child for Schumacher

Lulu deKwiatkowski, founder and designer of LULU DK Fabrics revealed her collaboration with Schumacher with a bright, spirited collection of stunning children's fabrics. Lulu designed all of these sophisticated and cheerful patterns by hand on painter's canvas.

LULU DK | Child is a collection of eight prints and six embroideries on cotton grounds, including an embroidered tape. The fabric colors are mixes of pastels and brights, which are very fitting with the assortment of animals, butterflies, patterns, and over-scaled motifs. This collection has many diverse options whether it is for a nursery, child's room, or a fun flirty space in your house. This fabric would work for many applications such as window treatments, pillow covers, or upholstery.

Colorful Modern Nursery

If you're a fan of Sarah Richardson from HGTV you'll love her modern take on her nursery. She uses her signature bright and bold layers of patterns to create a sophisticated modern nursery.

Go heavy on the main hues, light on the rest. She explains “I like a monochromatic scheme, so this room reads mostly as red and cream; the blues and yellows fade into the background.” While designing this nursery her and her husband did not know if they had a boy or a girl on board.

A great tip that she suggests is using washable slipcovers. The covers on her loveseat and the footstool were both pre-shrunk and are able to be machine washed and dried.

Using both the walnut and white furniture add texture to the room. The beauty of looking at this nursery is she customized some of her own pieces from her furniture collection.

“I HAD A ‘NO BUNNIES’ RULE,” laughs designer Sarah Richardson, describing the chic yet playful nursery she designed for her new baby. “I wanted there to be colour, energy, vitality and happiness, but not the traditional nursery trappings.”

Check out using texture instead of colour with the Jonathan Alder Giraffe Lamp.

Here is a link to Design Inc.  where some photos are from. She also lists where most of the items are from.

Friday's Find - Sprout Backpack

Friday's Find is all about fun products for the nursery or for the play room.

Last weekend we came across the perfect backpack for JJ. It's the North Face Sprout bag in black, paprika & blue for kids. This bag is the perfect size for a 17 month old - he is still a little young to really use it, but for now it works great for play. It can hold some of his favorite toys. We just fill it up with some toys and put it on, he loves wearing it even just around the house. A couple of features that I really like about this backpack. It has a sternum velcro strap that helps keep the adjustable shoulder straps on. There is also an exterior handle on the front of the pack that a parent can grab their child quickly if they start running away, which happens all the time in this house. There is a mesh pocket inside the pack that can securely store his sunglasses. Also, there are two mesh pockets on either side of the pack that make it an ideal spot for a milk sippie cup and a water sippie cup to tag along. I am looking forward to the day when he will wear this out for our adventures around town and can hold his own snacks!

This bag weighs about 8 ounces. Measures 12.5"x9"x5". It is made from 600D Poly and has a lifetime guarantee against defects in material and workmanship.

We got this one from REI

Little JJ's Nursery

What better way to start this blog with little JJ's nursery. We live in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo in an urban area, however we do have more space than most urban settings. When we prepared for little JJ we had to think about every purchase and make sure that every item had a home. His room has evolved over the last 16 months to keep suiting his needs as he grows into a little man.

The blue curtains from Pottery Barn Kids and light yellow walls make this nursery fun and full of life. I like that the crib sheets can be changed to any color combination and it puts a fun spin on the room.

Check back I will be showing how JJ's nursery has evolved over the last year. I have some fun DIY projects ahead of me.
